Floor‑to‑Floor Expansion Joint Cover with Stainless Steel Deck

The GXS Surface-Line Series surface mounted floor-to-floor expansion joint covers carry a stainless steel cover plate. The series is designed to be fixed directly through the side members, normally in applications where the requirement for a recess has been overlooked. The detail below shows a 16mm x 20mm recess in the slabs which is only required for joints less than 57mm wide. The GXS-25 for instance can be installed in a joint with of 57mm without the need for a recess. This effectively increases the width of the structural joint the system will accommodate. The GXS Series is installed on top of the floor finish, the tapered ramp reduces bumps for wheeled traffic. These joints can be used in conjunction with many floor finishes such as concrete toppings, terrazzo, tile, timber, epoxy finishes etc. They would commonly be used in locations such as shopping centres, hotels, office foyers, schools, airports and other pedestrian traffic situations.

Materials

• Aluminium 6063-T5 mill finish alloy.

• 304 Grade 2B finish stainless steel cover plate.

• Supplied in 3050mm lengths.

• Spring steel treated centring bar with cylindrical pins at ~475mm centres to facilitate multidirectional movement.

Fixings

• Side members factory drilled to accept 6.5mm countersunk head fixings at ~475mm centres.

• We recommend Latham Thixotropic Epoxy Adhesive be used in conjunction for superior securing.
