Latham Australia provides complimentary online CPD courses designed to help architects and industry professionals stay informed about the latest industry developments. To maintain their professional registration, architects practicing in NSW, QLD, VIC, WA, TAS, and SA, as well as A+ members of the Australian Institute of Architects, are required to earn Continuing Professional Development points annually.

For most architects, this requirement totals 20 CPD points each year, with every hour of structured learning equalling 1 point. This total must be split evenly: a minimum of 10 points must come from Formal CPD activities, while the remaining 10 can be earned through Informal CPD. To support design professionals in meeting these benchmarks, Latham delivers a variety of free online modules that address common industry challenges, regulatory codes, standards, and specification strategies.

When selecting an educational session, it is crucial to recognise how Formal and Informal CPD differ. A Formal CPD activity features clearly stated learning goals and includes a formal assessment to evaluate the participant's understanding. Through the Latham Education Hub, architects can access a selection of free online courses tailored specifically to fulfil these strict formal requirements.

Conversely, Informal CPD is self-directed and does not involve an assessment. This can include activities like reviewing White Papers on Latham Education Hub, requesting and participating in Latham Architectural Product Presentations, or engaging with any of our free online instructional courses.

Architects must also keep track of differing regional deadlines, as the CPD calendar year varies by location across Australia. The renewal period concludes on March 31st for those registered in Tasmania and Queensland, and on June 30th for practitioners in New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, and Western Australia. To simplify compliance and ease the pressure of these deadlines, Latham ensures a steady rotation of accessible online courses is always available for design professionals.
