Latham offers a range of custom-manufactured Fire Barriers to be used with most Latham Flexible Mechanical Expansion Joint Covers. Latham Fire Barriers can accommodate widths from as narrow as 15mm up to 1800mm.
They are suitable for installation in floor, wall, ceiling, and roof applications. Standard Latham Fire Barriers offer a minimum fire resistance of 2 hours. For many applications, 3- and 4-hour fire resistance options are available upon request.

Ease of Installation
Latham Fire Barriers provide easy installation and fire protection on both sides of the application.
- For joint widths of 15mm to 150mm, Latham MetaMat™ Fire Barriers are easy to install because of their thin, fl exible design.
- For 2-hour fi re-rated fl oor applicati ons Latham MetaMat™ is only 3mm thick. A 2-hour fi re-rated wall applicati on requires Latham MetaMat™ to be installed on each side of the rated parti ti on.
- For nominal joint widths ranging from 100mm to 1800mm, Latham MetaFlex™ Pro Fire Barriers provide convenient single-package installati on with intuiti ve splicing for joins.

Latham Fire Barriers can be used with most floor, floor-to-wall, wall, roof, roof-to-parapet, and ceiling joint covers for a high degree of design flexibility.
Latham Fire Barriers are suitable for new joint construction, retrofitting existing joints, curtain walls, shaft walls and chases.

Joint widths to 75mm
Latham MetaMat™ LMF2H75F (Floor) and LMW2H75W (Wall) are 2-Hour Fire Barrier Systems suitable for installation in joint widths with a minimum opening of 15mm and a maximum opening of 75mm. These fire barriers are supplied in continuous lengths to 24.4 metres.
These barriers are suitable for floor, wall and roof applications and consist of an intumescent material in roll form. They are thin, contain no asbestos, solvents or other hazardous materials. They are simple to install, and no caulking is required. A floor barrier is a single system, whereas a wall barrier requires installation on both sides of a wall or a double installation, one on top of the other.
Joint widths up to 150mm
Latham MetaMat™ LMF2H150F (Floor) and LMW2H150F (Wall) are 2-Hour Fire Barrier Systems suitable for installation in joint widths with a minimum opening of 25mm and a maximum opening of 150mm.
These barriers are suitable for floor, wall, and roof applications and consist of an intumescent material in roll form. They are thin, contain no asbestos, solvents or other hazardous materials. This fire barrier is supplied in 3050mm lenghts.
They are simple to install and require no caulking. The floor barrier is a single system, while the wall barrier requires installation on both sides of a wall or a double installation, one on top of the other.
Joint widths up to 400mm
Latham MetaFlex® Pro Floor Fire Barrier LMPF2H400F (Floor) is a high-performance, drop-in, single-package floor fire barrier for joint widths up to 400mm. Rigid flanges hold the barrier in place during installation. No firestop sealant is required.
The Latham MetaFlex® Pro Fire Barrier joints are easy to install. The material is supplied with factory male and female ends for quick splicing on each 3050mm length.Latham MetaFlex® Pro Wall Fire Barrier LMPF2H400W (Wall) available on request. This fire barrier is supplied in 3050mm lenghts.
Custom applications
Joint widths up to 1800mm
Latham MetaFlex® Pro Fire Barrier is available for maximum joint widths up to 1800mm in floor, wall, and roof applications. These products are available on request.
Rigorous Testing
Intertek and BRANZ have assessed and tested the fire resistance of Latham MetaMat™, Latham MetaFlex™, and Latham MetaFlex™ Pro to global standards. Depending on the 2, 3, or 4-hour Latham Fire Rated Systems and on-site requirements, the Latham Fire Barriers are purpose manufactured to meet the following classifications: -
- AS 1530.4—Methods for fire tests on building materials, components and structures: Fire resistance test of elements of construction.
- AS 4072.1—Components for the protection of openings in fire-resistant separating elements, service penetrations, and control joints.
- ASTM E1966—Standard Test Method for Fire-Resistive Joint Systems.
- UL 2079—Test for Fire Resistance of Building Joint Systems.
- ASTM E119—Standard Test Methods for Fire Tests of Building Construction and Materials.
- ASTM E1399—Standard Test Method for Cyclic Movement & Measuring the Minimum & Maximum Joint Widths of Architectural Joint Systems.
- BS 476: Part 20—Fire tests on building materials and structures –Methods for determination of the fire resistance of non-loadbearing elements of construction.
- BS EN 1366-4—Fire resistance tests for service installations – linear joint seals. Latham Fire Barriers, including joints, are tested for fire rating, including vigorous seismic movement before and during the fire test.
Prefabricated Corners & Transitions
Latham can offer prefabricated fire-rated corner and transition units for some joint covers. Transitions for other fire barriers may be carried out on-site.
