Latham Neoprene-X-Pansion Tile Strips are cost effective pavement movement control systems that are fast, efficient, and easy to install, leaving no mess. They provide a vandal resistant, attractive, permanent and maintenance free means of accommodating movement.
Neoprene-X-Pansion Terrazzo Tile Strips are manufactured under strict factory-controlled conditions using high quality folded brass and Zinc plates in 1mm (standard) and 3mm thicknesses, bonded to a quality air channelled neoprene core. They are designed especially for installation in ornamental and architectural hard paving, to control the opening of floor joints during expansion and contraction. They absorb tile and paving growth and minimise edge erosion and cracking. Tile strips are delivered to the site ready for installation and are suitable for insitu grinding up to 4mm. They replace the previously recognised and outmoded, difficult to effect liquid poured construction and isolation joints, which were often omitted from the paving due to problems and cost in producing a satisfactory joint on site.
Tile strips should be installed in controlled floor bays at all stress points. In particular, to isolate columns, lift wells and escalators, at all direction changes, the floor perimeter, centre lines of columns, and across door openings. Other areas include changes in levels, against all restraining surfaces and on suspended floors where flexing is likely to occur, particularly over supporting walls and beams. Tile Strips are 1800mm in length and are designed to be installed over control joints or saw cuts while the tile adhesive is in a plastic state. Once the tile strip is installed the adhesive should be trowelled firmly to ensure adequate anchorage.
Before selection all usage factors must be taken into consideration including technical characteristics of the chosen paving material. However for internal applications, bay sizes in general have been 4.5 metre x 4.5 metre grids with special consideration being given to site conditions. External paving bays are reduced to 3 metres x 3 metres with the installation of 12mm wide tile strips being considered. Special Application Neoprene-X-Pansion Tile Strips are available and are custom made to suit some special conditions.

☛ Custom heights to accommodate custom floor finish thicknesses available on request. ☛ Some custom metal plate thicknesses available on request. ☛ Not available in Stainless Steel as its considered unsuitable for in place grinding and polishing. ☛ Materials is recommended for grinding in place in the flooring to a depth of 4-5mm maximum. |
Latham Neoprene-X-Pansion Terrazzo Tiles Strips with 6mm and 12mm neoprene inserts and 1mm Brass or Zinc folded side plates are designed to be used in applications where Terrazzo tiles are being used and are being ground insitu. The strips will accommodate up to 4mm of on-site grinding in the floor grinding application.
Latham Neoprene-X-Pansion Terrazzo Tile Strips with 6mm and 12mm neoprene inserts and 1mm and 3mm Brass or Zinc folded side plates are supplied in standard 1800mm lengths and should be installed so as to minimise the frequency of butt joints and short lengths. Also 3-way and 4-way butt joint intersections should be avoided (see page 54 for further details).
Latham Neoprene-X-Pansion Terrazzo Tile Strips should be installed in all locations of stress concentration; at changes in direction; wherever localised movement is anticipated and around rigid and fixed large objects such as columns, stair and lift wells, light posts, across driveways, at access covers, across doorways and anywhere that may impede expansion and contraction of the floor finish.
For further information and specification details available, see page 55 of catalogue.
