Quick and easy installation
Installed at the same time as laying the wet under-bed or adhesive, ensuring positive anchorage and a gauge for the paving thickness. Requires no on site work other than cutting to length where necessary.
-
Side plates
Side plates are quality rolled brass alloy, hard zinc, stainless steel or rebonite. For external Loc Strip applications, brass, stainless steel or rebonite with stainless steel anchors are recommended. For external adhesive fixed applications brass or stainless steel side plates should be considered.

Control Section
Control section is quality neoprene. Air Channels are incorporated to allow maximum flexibility for expansion and contraction whilst still maintaining a good, hard top wearing surface. Available in standard colour black and optional buff or grey. -
Custom-made curved and circular Loc and Tile Strips
Latham Neoprene-X-Pansion Loc and Tile Strips have been manufactured for many projects around the world. Neoprene-X-Pansion Loc and Tile strips can be manufactured to tight curves, to compliment almost any architectural design. -
Neoprene-X-Pansion Loc and Tile Strips have a wearing surface compatible with that of paving
Thickness of standard side plates for Loc Strips are 1mm brass or zinc, 0.7mm stainless steel and 3mm rebonite. Thickness of standard sideplates for tile strips are 1.5mm brass or aluminium, and 0.7mm stainless steel. These combinations give the joint a wearing surface compatible with that of the paving, eliminating uneven wear pattern previously experienced with heavy and hard metal strips. Optional 3mm thick sideplates are available for brass and zinc Loc® Strips and brass and aluminium Tile Strips.
Top Finishing: All Neoprene-X-Pansion Loc and Tile Strips have a 6mm or 12mm wide neoprene trafficable wear surface. Standard production is machine dressed in the factory so that the product as delivered may be used in finished paving and tile installations. 31mm, 40mm and 50mm Loc Strips are designed to accommodate normal grinding and polishing on site and in this application are supplied unfinished for site finishing. Specify “site finishing” if required.
Loc Strip metal side plates are punched and pierced at regular 175mm intervals, forming anchoring loops along the entire length of the strip – these loops are allocated directly opposite to equalise the loading and accommodate the GW50 or SSW50 Wire Anchors.
Tile Strip metal sideplates are punched at 50mm intervals forming anchoring holes for the adhesive.
Neoprene-X-Pansion Loc and Tile Strips are finished straight along the critical top viewed edge to provide a level finish to the floor, with a top edge bow tolerance of ±1mm per metre. This provides a neat level surface assisting the floor layer and allowing the pavement to be easily maintained.
Neoprene-X-Pansion Loc and Tile Strips are edge straightened after manufacture to eliminate edge bow, ensuring the strips will appear straight in the flooring when stored and installed correctly.
Bay sizes for Loc and Tile Strips in internal applications should meet the Australian Standard but generally installed in 4.5 metre x 4.5 metre bays using 6mm wide neoprene insert. in external applications the area reduced to 3 metres x 3 metres with 12mm wide neoprene inserts being considered. For insitu terrazzo and pebble paving applications, bay sizes of 7.5 metres x 3.5 metres should be considered. When the application is external or in direct sunlight the bay sizes should be reduced 50%. If increased bay sizes are desired, 12mm wide Loc Strips should be considered.
Cautionary Note
The bed must be cut through to the structure directly under the Neoprene-X-Pansion Loc and Tile Strip or the strip must be bedded over a closed cell polyethylene or similar flexible spacer to ensure free movement. Neoprene-X-Pansion Loc and Tile Strips must not be installed over main construction joints where major movement may take place. Instead a mechanical expansion joint cover system should be installed, such as our Latham fully flexible brass, aluminium or stainless steel assemblies, which allow greater horizontal and vertical movement. Brass side plates when incorporated in epoxy or polyester paving may cause a chemical reaction developing verdegris. Stainless steel side plates are considered unsuitable for grinding and polishing on site due to flex during grinding. Neoprene batch colours may vary.
