Who We Are at Sun Synergy 

Based in Kuala Lumpur, Sun Synergy is a family business founded by my father and now into its second generation. Our business is advising on and supplying high-quality safety flooring and expansion joint systems. From Malaysia’s MRT, LRT and monorail stations, to shopping centres, airports, and the towering Merdeka 118 and Petronas Twin Towers, Latham’s products, supplied by Sun Synergy, have become a quiet but essential part of everyday life for millions of Malaysians. 

We don’t just sell products; we educate the market. Many architects and specifiers in Malaysia do not have exposure to the relevant training in safety standards for flooring. We fill that gap by conducting CPD talks, engaging with university students, and working directly with architects to ensure compliance and awareness.

Our relationship with Latham Australia began almost three decades ago, before Sun Synergy existed. It was forged in the aftermath of a tragic landslide, caused by construction failures. The incident shocked the industry and triggered a wave of scrutiny into safety standards. At the time, my father Michael Ng, was sourcing products for a shopping centre and came across Latham’s mechanical expansion joint covers. That connection, made through David Latham (father of Adam and Dane Latham), laid the foundation for what has become a trusted, enduring partnership. 

Over the years, we’ve seen Latham’s products specified in Malaysia’s most iconic buildings including Petronas Twin Towers, KLIA, and major malls like Exchange TRX. These projects are proof points of our combined reputation for safety, quality, and reliability.

Our relationship with the Latham family has grown deeper over the years. My father knew David. I work closely with Adam. Our families have met. Training, Continuity, and the Next Generation 

Training and development are essential to what we do. I brought my sales colleague Raymond Tan to the Sydney Build Expo this year to help on the Latham stand and see first-hand how the products are made. That kind of exposure builds product confidence and expertise that we can take back to our clients. Raymond earned the trip by meeting our sales targets, and I believe investing in our people like this strengthens our service offering.

I also hope to one day see the next generation of our family continue this legacy. My son may not be ready yet, but having joined also joined us at Sydney Build Expo, he’s watching and learning, just like I did years ago when I first stepped into this industry.
