AS 1428.1-2009 Compliant at a Glance

Although there are many varied and contradictory standards in Australia and throughout the world, Latham strive where possible to meet these and are constantly updating our range to address the sometimes unforeseen and unexplained changes to various Standards.

In relation to the updated standard AS 1428.1-2009, these profiles, when installed correctly, meet the width and depth requirements set out in this standard. It should be noted however that when an aluminium or brass nosing with a deeper bullnose is required a number of certifiers have claimed that as the vertical face strip of the nosing is a different colour this is acceptable. It is good practice to clarify with your certifier before ordering as standards are often open to interpretation and opinions may differ.

All Latham Asbraloy™ and Asbrabronz™ Safety Stair Tread Nosings are suitable for internal or external applications.

Lengths
All Asbraloy Aluminium and Asbrabronz Solid Brass profiles are supplied factory cut to the site required length (up to 4600mm in one continuous length), complete with countersunk holes, stainless steel or brass screws (depending on the selected section) and plastic plugs. If specified at time of order treads can be supplied in full manufacturing lengths of 4600mm for on site cutting and drilling to suit clients supplied fixings. Factory Cutting Tolerance: +0/-3mm.

Screw Fixing Holes
Unless otherwise specified at time of order, holes will be provided in the treads to suit 8 gauge stainless steel or brass screws at Latham’s standard 250mm centres. Any special machining, mitres, modifications or alternative hole locations can be accommodated at extra cost.

Colour Range Slip Resistant Infill
For Asbraloy Aluminium and Asbrabronz Solid Brass profiles, the standard infill colour is sparkling black. A range of optional Supagrit infill colours are available on request.

Finishes
Asbraloy Aluminium profiles are supplied in mill finish. On request, profiles can be supplied with a polished bullnose or in clear anodized finish at additional cost. In marine-type applications, Asbraloy profiles should be specified with 20 micron clear anodised finish. Asbrabronz Solid Brass profiles are supplied in brush finish. On request, Asbraloy and Asbrabronz profiles can be supplied with a polished bullnose.

Installation
Installing Lathams’ Stair Tread Nosings is a straightforward task - and we can supply all the necessary fixings and accessories for a perfect job. They can be installed by builders, specialist flooring contractors, or capable maintenance personnel. Our Tredlite illuminated series of nosings use plug-in transformers and can be supplied with components that negate the requirement for any dedicated on-site electrical work, as long as suitable power outlets are close by. Alternatively, they can be wired into some lighting systems by qualified electricians.

Compliance and Testing Information
