Latham NEOPRENE CONTROL JOINTS

Latham Australia Neoprene-X-Pansion® Tile Strips

Latham Neoprene Expansion Tile Strips Installed into Tiles

Latham Neoprene-X-Pansion Loc & Tile Control Joints are a cost effective pavement movement control system that are fast, efficient and easy to install, leaving no mess and providing a vandal resistant, attractive permanent and maintenance free means of accommodating movement. Each Neoprene-X-Pansion Loc and Tile Strip is manufactured under strict factory controlled conditions using high quality brass, zinc, stainless steel, aluminium or rebonite plates bonded to a quality air channelled neoprene core.

They are designed specially for installation in ornamental and architectural hard paving, to control the opening of floor joints during expansion and contraction. They absorb tile and paving growth and minimise edge erosion and cracking. Neoprene-X-Pansion Loc and Tile Strips are delivered to the site ready for installation. They replace the previously recognised and outmoded, difficult to effect liquid poured construction and isolation joints, which were often omitted from the paving due to problems and cost in producing a satisfactory joint on site.

Latham Neoprene-X-Pansion Tile Strips are designed to be used in all adhesive fixed hard flooring applications and are designed to be installed in conjunction with an appropriate tile adhesive. See datasheet for further details. Latham Neoprene-X-Pansion Tile Strips should be installed at all locations of stress concentration; at changes in direction; wherever localised movement is anticipated and around rigid and fixed large objects such as columns, stair and lift wells, light posts, across doorways, garden beds, manhole covers and embedded pipe work and anywhere that may impede expansion and contraction of the tiling.

Latham Neoprene Expansion and Contraction Tile strips joints Installation

Latham Neoprene-X-Pansion Tile Strips are supplied in standard lengths of 1800mm and installed so as to minimise the frequency of butt joints and short lengths. Also 3-way and 4-way butt joint intersections should be avoided (see installation instructions). Before selection, all usage factors must be taken into consideration including technical characteristics of the chosen paving material.

Tile Strips should be installed over control joints or sawcuts while the adhesive is in a plastic state and trowelled firmly to ensure adequate anchorage. To ensure that the location of joints in the tile work align with existing substrate joints, the tile work joints should be constructed during installation of the mortar and tile beds, rather than by saw-cutting joints after installation. The joint depth should be appropriate for the combined thickness of the adhesive layer and the tiles, and to prevent the joint protruding above the level of surrounding tile work.
